« Learning to breathe better is learning to live better » Guillaume Nery

Without breathing, there is no life.

In the early days of our lives, we breathe perfectly. You only have to watch a healthy baby breathe to see that he breathes deeply through his belly. Their breathing is peaceful, slow, and stress-free.

We have the power to control our breathing, yet the stress and anxiety caused by our modern society has led us to develop bad breathing habits. In fact, most people today breathe only through the top of the rib cage and no longer through the belly; we use only 20% of our lungs. Our breathing is generally too fast and shallow.

Learning to breathe correctly, through the belly, will allow you to reduce stress

Breathing in is essential because it provides oxygen to the body and the brain. When we breathe in deeply, we act on the immune system, lower the blood pressure and regulate the vascular heart system. Exhaling is also important because it allows us to eject all the gaseous waste, toxic, from the body.

You too are probably breathing too fast. Using the Wim Hof method, coached by Léandre, you can change your breathing rhythm and resume good habits: the number of breaths per minute will be reduced by two.

The Wim Hof Method exercises will allow you to better manage your body.

The Wim Hof breathing creates a slight and short hypoxia (a bit like during a mountain training) which has many benefits on our form and health.

Indeed, while breathing, we inhale more oxygen than usual, which allows our cells to produce more energy in the mitochondria.

The release of happiness endorphins (dopamine, serotonin..) increases, you will notice following these exercises, the appearance of a feeling of appeasement & well-being as well as a better concentration.

During this breathing, we also exhale more Co2. When the concentration of Co2 in the blood drops considerably, the PH of your body is more alkaline (reducing acidity) and oxygen remains "blocked" on the red blood cells. Our cells and muscle tissue receive less O2 for a short time. This slight stress at the molecular level causes the body to react to strengthen itself. Bacteria & outside attacks don't like this, which reduces your chances of inflammation.

The body boosts its metabolism, activates the sympathetic nervous system increasing lung capacity, red blood cell production and blood flow. Hypoxia, when controlled, is a positive stress, which is why athletes go to the mountains.

Moreover, your emotional state is linked to your breathing, so you will be able to control your stress and your emotions in general.

It is for these reasons (and many others) that it is important to learn how to breathe correctly now. Breathing well has many more benefits than we realize. We can get these benefits by lying comfortably, breathing.
